Apple’s iPhone 4 only costs $188 in parts

iSuppli’s teardown of the new Apple iPhone 4 reveals a cost of only $187.51 in parts and this does not include cost to manufacture, parts only. Although the cost for the new iPhone ranges between $199 and $299 on contract and $599 and $699 with no contract, the cost for parts seem pretty decent considering what you get.

For the iPhone 4 at a sale price of $599.00, that’s a 68.7 percent profit margin and for the $699 iPhone 4, it is closer to 73.18 percent – remember that this does not include operating costs, manufacturing, R&D, packaging, shipping, marketing and various other expenses associated with operating a company for a product launch. But still, that’s a pretty darn good chunk of the pie for a very well designed phone.
