Kindle for Android has landed

That didn’t take long now did it? Amazon today announced it’s Kindle app for Android; keyword in marketplace is: Kindle. Now that Droid X, HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy S series of phones all have 4 inch and larger screens, perfect for reading on the go, you can start downloading your favorite titles at Amazon right now.

The Kindle Store currently contains more than 620,000 books starting at $9.99 each. You can actually preview the first chapter of each book before you commit to buying the title. Requirements include Android 1.6 or higher.

Some of the features include:

  • Get the best reading experience available on your Android phone. No Kindle required
  • Access your Kindle books even if you don’t have your Kindle with you
  • Automatically synchronizes your last page read and annotations between devices with Whispersync
  • Adjust the text size, add bookmarks, and view the annotations you created on your Kindle, computer, or other Kindle-compatible device
  • Read in portrait or landscape mode
  • Tap on either side of the screen or flick to turn pages
