iPhone Handy Light was a Trojan Horse that brings good things, but now its gone

Briefly accepted into the app store, a new Flashlight app had a bit of a surprise inside. On the outside it looked like just a regular on screen Flashlight app with different colors you can choose from. On the inside though, there was an awesome surprise hidden in the code. You guessed it, tethering.

The app allows SOCKS proxy tethering without any jail-breaking or hacks required. So here is the quick story. Much like ‘Netshare’ back in 2008, the Flashlight app which has a secret tethering goes up in the app store. A few short hours later it comes right back down. I can say with utter certainty that this app will never find its way back into the App Store. Apple doesn’t allow tethering apps into the app store and they certainly aren’t happy that someone snuck one in. So if you were one of the lucky few who got your hands on it, congratulations! Those of us who didn’t will forever envy you. How could we not, you have two of the coolest apps built in one. Screen illuminating Flashlight and tethering! If you want to see how the app works check out the video.
