Motorola Droid X screen issue confirmed, Verizon says it is not widespread

Early this week there were reports of screen issues cropping up on the new Motorola Droid X. It looks like some Droid X are getting funny blotches on either the lower half or sometimes even the entire screen. Motorola is referring to this as “flickering or banding” of the screen. The problem seemed to be fairly well known according to support forums, but Verizon said the issue is not widespread and is being corrected. Here is a quote from Verizon and Motorola…

Verizon Wireless and Motorola are aware of a very small number of DROID X units that have experienced a flickering or banding display. Motorola has resolved the issue and is continuing to ship the phones. Any consumer who experiences a flickering or banding display should contact a Motorola customer support center or Verizon Wireless.

If you have had the issue on your Droid X. Backup your stuff, head over to a Verizon store and get a replacement. It shouldn’t be an issue since it is a known problem.
