Verizon and Motorola teaming up for a 10 inch TV tablet

Financial Times is reporting the Verizon and Motorola are teaming up to bring us a 10 inch, Android OS based 10 inch tablet in Q4 of this year. The tablet is being built specifically to be able to watch TV, Verizon FiOS digital pay-television service, in order to chip away at Apples dominance with the iPad. Motorola and Verizon are working together because Verizon owns a 25 percent share of the U.S. television market (where it operates) and a 29 percent share of broadband customers. Motorola was working with ICD on a 7 inch device back in January at CES, 2010. Some of the technology tossed around was a dual-core Tegra 250 chipset, capable of utilizing Verizon’s LTE 4G network. With the holidays around the corner and news today that Verizon is indeed launching 4G data in major markets next month, we could see these Android based tablets showing up wrapped up for gifts in Q4 of this year.
