Samsung ‘Craft’ coming to MetroPCS as first LTE handset; Full LTE roll-out by 2011

MetroPCS is racing to be the first carrier to get their LTE 4G network out before Verizon. MetroPCS is launching the Samsung ‘Craft’ or otherwise knows as the Samsung SCH-R900. The device will be Metro’s first LTE-enabled phone and will feature a touchscreen display, a full HTML browser, 3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and boasts Qualcomm processor (no GHz specifications yet). Pricing is estimated to come in just shy of $300. Las Vegas and Dallas/Ft. Worth are expected to be the first two cities launched with LTE by MetroPCS. In addition, MetroPCS plans to build a “proprietary MetroPCS studio” that will provide streaming video, full-track music downloads and TV offerings over their LTE network. MetroPCS executives said the carrier plans to complete its LTE buildout in early 2011. The carrier counts around 7 million subscribers across 11,000 cities and towns in the United States.
