[Rumor] Verizon iPhone To Be Better than iPhone 4?

It appears that’ll be the case, if the “insider” the folks over at DVICE is in fact supplying them with correct information.  The informant claims to have used a prototype Verizon iPhone, and noted numerous upgrades over the standard iPhone 4 that can currently be found on AT&T’s network.  These little tidbits hint to the ever growing rumor that the Verizon iPhone will be in fact an upgraded iPhone 4.  More information and updated specs after the break.

Apple’s media event round up: iPod Nano, iPod Touch, iPod Shuffle

Well well, what have we here? It looks like Apple’s event ran as expected with the announcements of the new iPod touch, iPod Nano, and the iPod Shuffle. So what is it that is new and exciting about all of this? Well actually, quite a lot. This wasn’t your average refresh with a larger storage capacity or a slight bump in specs. No, this was a full fledge relaunch of some of their products, especially the iPod Nano. Lets take a look shall we? Read more of this post

Netflix app updated, now works on your iPhone and iPod Touch

Today the long-awaited Netflix app is now available for download on your iPod Touch and iPhone. This isn’t just an app to edit and change your queue. You can actually resume or start playback on movies and TV shows in your queue! You can do so over both WiFi and 3G. We haven’t tested the app ourselves just yet, but we assume there will be some sort of video degradation to compensate for the lack of bandwidth while using 3G. We are crossing our fingers in hopes that it is better than the iPad version. Viewing videos on the iPad version is fine, but browsing the content is completely awful and laggy.  It is the exact same interface as the website except it is slow and gets stuck all the time. The more mobile-like interface on the iPhone version will probably clear up so of those issues. So what are you waiting for? Head over to the App Store and download Netflix.

Apple’s iPhone is no longer for sale off contract

There are those of us who sign any contract we can to get the best deal on the newest phones, then there are those of us who are willing to shell out $500+ from our pocket in order to have the option of switching carriers at any point in time. Well it looks as though from this point on, you will only be able to get a shiny new iPhone on a new 2 year agreement. Apple’s FAQ site has been updated with the following Q and A… Read more of this post

Apple releases iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone, 3.2.2 for iPad, breaks jailbreak and fixes Safari’s PDF vulnerability

I wanted to say that didn’t take long, but in fact it actually took longer than I expected. The easy one click jailbreak that was available at Jailbreakme.com is no longer going to work. Apple fixed a bug related to the way Safari handled PDF’s closing the exploit allowing 3rd party programs root access to the device. Also if you have already jailbroke your phone, you might want to hold off on updating if you want to keep your jailbreak. It looks as though this patch only fixed that hole thus is not really worth updating. iPad users, ditto. Same thing for you. It will be worth the wait for most. 4.1 should be coming anytime now which will be a slightly more worthy upgrade.

Skype finally released with iOS 4 backgrounding

Skype was one of the companies that joined Apple at their iOS 4 developer preview back in April. They hopped on stage and showed how users can have Skype running in the background ready to receive calls with VoIP. Well after the iPhone 4 launched everyone was kind of scratching their heads wondering where Skype was with this new functionality. Well they are here now and that is all that matters. If you have Skype on your phone you should head over to the App Store and download the latest version. Here is what is new in the latest version… Read more of this post

Android already outselling the iPhone by 41% worldwide according to Apple and Google

I want to preface this by saying that these numbers are all based off numbers Google and Apple have given. Okay now let’s get started. Today Apple had its financial results. What they’ve told us is that they have sold 8.4 million iPhones in the last 3 months. Yes this number is huge, but how big is it? Does Android even compare to Apple in terms of sales? According to Apple and Google, the answer is yes. Read more of this post

Apple has a good quarter, iPod sales down and all other sales are up

Today was the day that Apple released its financial results for its 3rd fiscal quarter. We aren’t a stock market site here so we aren’t going to get too heavy on the details, but here is what you might be interested in: Read more of this post

Apple holding iPhone 4 conference this Friday, recall, fix, or convince us there are no problems?

Yup, the iPhone 4 drama has been going on too long. It looks like Apple intends to put an end to it once and for all. That could mean a recall, a software update, in-house hardware fix, or it could just mean Apple is going to woo us with their words and make us all forget. Whatever the case may be, Engadget has been invited and will be reporting on it live. We will keep on it and find out what happens as it is happening and let you guys know. Exciting!

Apple allows 3rd party app ‘Fring’ to do video chat over 3G and Flashlight apps can use the new LED

Apple is not the type that allows apps in the App Store that replicate existing features. It may be possible that they are lightening up on the App Store restrictions. Apple’s brand new baby, the iPhone 4, has an LED light on the back of the phone. This LED is used for recording video and taking pictures. It will help add light to the scene. However, it can now be used in case of emergencies. Apple is allowing developers to put flashlight applications that use the actual LED for lighting in the App Store. Most apps just open up to a switch that allows you to turn the LED on or off. This has been available since the Motorola Droid came out on Android, so Apple isn’t the first, but it is surprising they allowed it none the less. That isn’t the only app that is surprisingly accepted into the App Store… Read more of this post
