[How-to] Revert Your Captivate To Stock with Odin3 “One-Click”!

So, you got yourself a shiny new AT&T Captivate.  Great, fantastic device; SuperAMOLED, Hummingbird, blah blah.  As any new Android user, you hop on the interwebs and get to Googling.  Slowly, over time, the inevitable happens; you stumble onto xda-developers.com.  You see the light.  Within hours, you’re on your third rom, the thirst for speed clouds your judgement.  Life is great, your device is flying, multitasking with gusto.  It’s at this point the tech Gods decide to rain on your parade, or, more precisely, your Captivate.  The speaker is dead, the rain markers are clear, time for insurance.  But wait!  You’re running CFW.  They’ll never replace a device that has so blatantly been modified.  In comes Odin3.  With just “one-click” (really a few more than that), you’ll have your Captivate SGS back to factory specifications with none the wiser (it’ll also help in ‘bricked’ devices).  Hit the link for directions and downloads!

A Month With AT&T’s Samsung Captivate

Recently, I was given an opportunity to spend a good deal of time with AT&T’s flagship Android phone, the Samsung Captivate.  The Captivate is (Quite obviously) a member of the Galaxy S family, whose 4″ SuperAMOLED screens and 1GHz Hummingbird processors can be found on most of the worlds major carriers (See T-Mobile Vibrant, .Samsung Fascinate, Sprint Epic 4G, etc).  How does the Captivate hold up to my (often hyper)criticism?  Can I successfully remove the battery door without a heart attack?  Find out after the break!

T-Mobile G2 will have Android 2.2 and only 800Mhz processor

T-Mobile keeps giving out piece by piece information on the G2 and today they have revealed a few specs about the device. When you purchase the G2 it will be running Android 2.2 vanilla (as seen by the pic, no Sense) and be Flash 10.1 ready. Another tidbit is that the device has a 800MHz processor inside, down from other Android devices running 1Ghz and upwards. I have seen disappointment all over about this but we should not give up hope, maybe the G2 will be optimized to use all of the processing power, but still makes you wonder why they chose to go with it. Pricing and availability is still up in the air but we can an expect an announcement soon I’m sure.

Samsung ships 1 million Galaxy S phones in the U.S.

Well here is a story you would not have expected to see some 3 years ago, or even 6 months ago. Samsung’s very first iPhone competitor was the Samsung Instinct. With the Instinct being exclusive to Sprint, Samsung did what it is now known for doing, put the phone on different carriers with different names. The Instinct had very good short-term success, but as you can see by the simple fact that you never hear about the Instinct today, it had very little long-term success. Samsung then took the already known Behold name and threw Android 1.5 on it. I don’t know if Samsung was just simply testing the waters with this phone, but it ended in disaster. Angry customers because it wasn’t ever going to be updated. It was super sluggish and came out at a time when other phones were already better. However, Samsung wasn’t going to give up on Android just yet. Fast forward to today, Read more of this post

[video] Samsung Galaxy Tab preview

Vodpod videos no longer available.

It seems like more and more leaks are coming direct from manufactures of products these days. With the Samsung Galaxy Tab teaser video we showed you earlier, this one is a hands-on treatment of what looks to be a surprising competitor to Apple’s iPad. As far as specifications go, here is what we know so far: Android 2.2, WCDMA 3G, 802.11n WiFi, a 16:10 screen ratio, a front-facing camera for dedicated to video calling, SDHC memory expandability, and a DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting) TV tuner. If the specs match up to the UI in the video, you have one hell of a Pad built by Samsung.
