CES 2011 is now over and Daniel, James and yours truly discuss the Verizon iPhone announcement and Confirmation by an AT&T exec, Kevin Rose stating that iPad will have a Retina display, Motorola Atrix, Bionic, Magellan iPhone case, ray into Android phones and tablets, Samsung 4g LTE smart phone, Honeycomb 3.0 and we discuss our favorites announcements  and the ones that are not-so-much. CES: Honeycomb – Not just for your tablet!


It’s finally here; Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) was announced (teased) and extensively demoed on Motorola’s flagship tablet, the XOOM, earlier this week at CES.  the community immediately fell in love with the reimagined tablet interface, but one question hung about the techno-sphere like a latent fart: WHAT ABOUT MY PHONE?!  Thankfully, we have a little more information regarding the usage of Android 3.0 on smartphones thanks to none other than Matias Duarte, head of interface and design for Google’s Android OS.  The guys over at Engaget were kind enough to record the interview with Mr. Duarte, and the from what we’ve seen so far, Android 3.0 is THE milestone update we’ve craved.  Hit the link for some key new features (impressions included)as well as a video of the interview courteoussey of Engaget.

CES: Motorola “XOOM”s to the front of the pack!

It’s official, the Motorola XOOM tablet is here!  The much rumored, Android 3.0 Honeycomb powered tablet from device manufacturer Motorola was made official today in a press release at CES 2011.  Initially featured as a prototype device during a Google keynote with Android lead man Andy Rubin, the Motorola XOOM is slated to be the flagship Android 3.0 tablet, developed hand in hand with Google to highlight the new tablet centric additions to the operating system.  Hit the link for specifications directly from big “M”.

[Video] Google outs Android 3.0 Honeycomb Tablet-only OS

Looky at what we have here? Google has thrown up a video of Android 3.0 (which was shortly yanked…but thanks to Engadget for grabbing a copy), in it Google clearly demontrates their ability with a newly redone Android 3.0 for a tablet-only format. Not only is it sleek but it’s real sexy too.

CES: AT&T announces the Samsung Infuse, Galaxy S with new 1.2ghz Hummingbird and 4.5inch Super AMOLED Plus

Would you look at that? It finally happened. AT&T is getting serious about Android. It only took about 2 and 1/2 years, but it happened. Well, at least from my point of view, all can be forgiven. AT&T just announced the new super beast phone called the Samsung Infuse. The Samsung Infuse is, at least at the moment, the highest of high-end phones. It makes all other Samsung Galaxy S devices look pretty old (especially since they are all still stuck on Android 2.1 here in the United States).
