USA corporate T-Mobile 400+ stores are about to get a complete face-lift. According to WirelessWeek, the stores will feature a complete redesign which will include all new technology to reduce customer wait times, customers will now be able to meet with sales representatives at private customer service desks and view products in clearly defined marketing areas, making it easier to find what they need. Also included in the makeover will be a whole new look including new hardwood flooring, large digital messaging screens at the rear of the store, vertical highlight panels installed with information kiosks and video monitors intended to increase customer engagement and simplify shopping. Beginning on the east coast, stores will start reopening beginning October 5th and carry on through 65 markets across the country in due time.

T-Mobile UK decides to cut data plans to 500MB/month – Shoots own foot

Wow.  Apparently, T-Mobile UK has made the exceedingly ridiculous decision to cut its users data plans to a paltry 500MB/month, effectively ostracizing most smart phone users.  Citing “fair use” violations, T-Mobile UK was quoted as saying

Browsing means looking at websites and checking email, but not watching videos, downloading files or playing games. We’ve got a fair use policy but ours means that you’ll always be able to browse the internet, it’s only when you go over the fair use amount that you won’t be able to download, stream and watch video clips.

Either their network is suffering from some serious strain, or T-Mobile UK has decided it’s 2005 and is adjusting their pricing as such.  Thankfully, customers stateside will retain the existing 5GB/month bandwidth limit, though there’s no word on whether or not it’s not (tricky double-negative there) coming to the US.  Hit the link for more information

iPhone coming to T-Mobile in Q3?

It is another iPhone rumor, however it is not a Verizon iPhone rumor. According to CultofMac you can now expect an 80% chance of iPhone on T-Mobile by the 3rd quarter of 2010. Yup, their source gave them a % chance of something happening. There has been all this side talk of Verizon iPhone not a whole lot of people thought about the higher likelihood of a T-Mobile iPhone just because of the fact that T-Mobile is a GSM carrier. T-Mobile now has a fairly robust 3G network, (except for Antelope Valley arg!) so it makes a lot of sense that the iPhone might make its way to the carrier. Android has brought its battle to the home of iPhone (AT&T) and is now selling more phones than Apple. It is time for Apple to strike back and put their phone on the birth place of Android.

T-Mobile to get 42Mbps HSPA+ by 2011?

Via TMO News

We recently discussed how fast T-Mobiles newly lit up HSPA+ network is. Make no mistake, it totally blew us away. In some areas we were getting 7.8Mbps download. However, most areas were getting 3-4Mbps download speed which is still quite admirable. Right now T-Mobiles HSPA+ has a theoretical max download limit of 21Mbps. According to this leaked slide you see above, which according to TMONews, was photographed at a manager’s meeting in Seattle, T-Mobile’s theoretical max is going to increase to Read more of this post

T-Mobile going to offer 3000 minute rate plan?

Even though T-Mobile already has Even More plans for $99 with unlimited everything, in a surprising move, T-Mobile is looking to possible raise the prices. On July 7th, T-Mobile will be offering a 3000 minute plan for $99 per month and for an additional $10 bucks, you can add a line for the 3rd, 4th and 5th lines.

My concern is that a price raise could be just around the corner on the unlimited pricing plans that were rolled out late last year.

Samsung Galaxy S confirmed by the FCC to be coming to T-Mobile

There have been rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S would be coming to T-Mobile among 99 other carriers throughout the world. Today the FCC helps confirm this with the new Samsung Galaxy S filing with T-Mobiles 3G bands. T-Mobile has always received Android love, but even from the beginning it has all been mid to low range love. Even their newest phone, the MyTouch Slide, still features the HVGA screen and the slower 600Mhz Qualcomm processor. The Galaxy S has a 1Ghz Hummingbird (which is supposed to have better battery life and higher performance than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon), 512MB of RAM, and Samsung’s new Super AMOLED screen. Yes T-Mobile’s fathers day sale is this weekend, but you might want to hold off signing a new contract for a smartphone until the Galaxy S comes out.
