Microsoft mobile phone gets FCC approval

The folks over at wireless goodness spotted the FCC approval document for the Sharp PB10ZU mobile phone, which upon further inspection was revieled to in fact be the Turtle, a smartphone rumored to be released by Microsoft waaaaay back in February 2008.  There’s little chance that this information is just coincidental, as MWC is beginning Monday, February 15th and the rumor mill buzzing with reports of Microsoft’s plan to unveil a new mobile phone at the conference.

The Turtle, which will almost certainly be released under a different name, is a dual band CDMA device that with work on Verizon and Sprint’s networks in the United States.  The Turtle also features WiFi and Bluetooth, as well as a slide out QWERTY keypad and a camera.

(Can you say awkward?  I sure as hell can.)

Vague is an understatement, although I do agree with the “Turtle” model name statement.  Fast-forward to marketing campaigns with Dana Carvey doing his “Turtle, Turtle” character.  No thanks.
