Godfather of Linux, Torvalds owns a Nexus One

Linus Torvalds, founder of the Linux kernal (godfather) and current Linux project coordinator, is a proud owner of the Nexus One.

On his blog post, Linus tells us his thoughts of the new Google handset and how he enjoys it in his day to day use:

“But I have to admit, the Nexus One is a winner. I wasn’t enthusiastic about buying a phone on the internet sight unseen, but the day it was reported that it finally had the pinch-to-zoom thing enabled, I decided to take the plunge. I’ve wanted to have a GPS unit for my car anyway, and I thought that google navigation might finally make a phone useful.

And it does. What a difference! I no longer feel like I’m dragging a phone with me “just in case” I would need to get in touch with somebody – now I’m having a useful (and admittedly pretty good-looking) gadget instead. The fact that you can use it as a phone too is kind of secondary.”

New 13 inch Macbook Pro arrival imminent?

Reports are starting to hit a flurry on the Interwebs regarding a new Macbook Pro that is set to arrive soon. Today, Engadget reported that BestBuy had inventory screen shot which shows a Macbook Pro SKU deleted. The SKU MB9900LL/A, is for a 13.3 inch. Macrumors stated “that the company frequently makes changes to its inventory system in anticipation of future announcements without any official knowledge from Apple. This is not always the case, however, as an unidentified “mobile computing” device that appeared in Best Buy’s system last May did turn out to be a revised MacBook that was released two days later.” Hit the read link for more info.

Android 2.1 to hit the Motorola Droid this week

Today Engadget broke the news on some details regarding Android 2.1 and the Motorola Droid. Saying that it will receive Android 2.1 and will include native multi-touch in the browser (probably also in the gallery and has already been put in the maps application), it will have Google Goggles, and most of the other features in the Nexus One’s 2.1. What they said it would not include is the new 3D app drawer and the live wallpapers. We will have to wait and see what actually pans out. Turns out we won’t have to wait very long. Motorola today posted on their official Facebook page that Android 2.1 will be arriving on Droid’s this week.  They also go on to say that other device upgrade details will be given soon. We hope this means the Motorola Cliq, Devour, and any of the Motorola tablets will all receive Android 2.1 soon as well. Well Droid users, get ready to tap your update buttons frantically because it is finally coming. We will of course put up a side by side of both the Nexus One and Motorola Droid as soon as we receive our update. We are very excited to see the differences in performance and UI.
