Sprint drops subscribers but no layoffs in the mix

Ah Sprint. How I love thee? I wake up to news this morning that Sprint had lost 148,000 net subscribers in the fourth quarter, from 1.27 million a year earlier. The decline in highly valuable contract customers, who generate average monthly revenue of $55, fell by more than half, to 504,000.  Revenues slipped to $32.3 billion last year, though Sprint held the drop to less than 10 percent. But yet in the same breath I read that Sprint is also looking to expand it’s prepaid business. Hit the link for more. T-Mobile flipping the switch on fiber electrified backhaul 21Mbps HSPA

T-Mobile isn’t wasting any time watching Verizon and AT&T tout their non-existent 4G networks. According to our pals over at Engadget T-Mobile is getting ready to fire up their new 21Mbps HSPA+ network. According to the coverage map above, this means that many Americans will not have the ability to access that beautiful speedway, but for the ones that do, this is a dream made in heaven.

Google’s mobile page updated, nicer UI, includes new ‘Buzz’ feature

Mobile pages change all the time and usually go unnoticed. This time I think Google did a pretty stellar job with their new mobile page. It no longer looks like you are viewing it on your Motorola RAZR. The buttons are a little bit bigger and have a blue button aura around them. The new pages can be viewed on any modern Webkit based mobile browser. Screen-shots depicting Google’ s new look after the break.
