SuperOneClick: One Click Rooting for Nearly All Android Phones!

One Click Rooting for Nearly Every Android PhoneIf you have an Android phone that you want rooted, and you have Microsoft Windows, then chances are that you’re in luck! A new Windows application roots all, but seven, Android phones with a single click (To include the Captivate). Granted there was Universal Androot, but Google is already patching the exploit which Universal Androot uses to root a device.

I suppose it’s a moot point though, since SuperOneClick roots all but seven devices and 6 (EVO, Incredible, Desire, Aria, Eris, and Wildfire) of those can still be rooted through unrevoked. Read more of this post

There is a lot of hype about this new Blackberry WebKit browser, the current browser on Blackberry’s is not the best to say the least and a lot of users are hoping this new browser is pain free. Well “Terrible Bean” wants to put those worries away as he goes one step further to do tests on a browser which looks to be running on AT&T. HTC Incredible OTA update now arriving on some devices

There is certainly a new update hitting the Droid Incredible as we speak. The already expected update is said to bring 720P video recording  and Skype among other things. We don’t know if the update is in fact bringing 720p because we still don’t have any official confirmation, but BGR has confirmed that users are receiving the update. It is still sad that HTC can’t keep supply up on the Droid Incredible because it really is a great phone. The Droid Incredible is still not shipping until August 03. If you do receive your update, let us know if you can now record HD video. If you still haven’t received your update, don’t worry. The process is most likely similar to that of the Motorola Droid when it got Android 2.1. Some phones get it, then more get it every day until every phone is updated.

Hello Sexy: HTC 1 Concept phone is simple and beautiful

My…my how beautiful you are! What you are staring drooling at is the HTC 1 concept phone by designer Andrew Kim. The model device is said to bring forth a more “refined and harmonious design” element to new handsets. His design is for the concept HTC 1 is unobtrusive, simple, clean and yet fully functional. If HTC moves towards these design elements and relies on a simple, unobtrusive industrial design format shown in the following photos, you can sure bet the sales of HTC Android powered handsets would increase 10 fold and even possibly put Apple’s iPhone 4 to shame.

Big props to the designer for some fantastic concepts! Hit the link to check out the full lineup of photos. Read more of this post

HTC’s Christmas Gift for all: Android 2.2

Santa knows what you want for Christmas HTC Android owners, the Froyo 2.2 update, and (Spoiler) he will be bringing it. Talking to Pocket-Lint.com, Eric Lin, HTC’s global PR and online community manager, gave relief to those HTC owners of when to expect the Froyo update. While he says the update process is difficult because they want to make sure everything is fine, he does say it is going quicker then expected.

“I don’t think you’re going to see that really long six month, seven month lag, like you saw in the updates from 1.5 to 2.1, simply because it’s a less severe change. Switching from 2.1 to 2.2, they made a lot of tweaks, but they didn’t make any gigantic changes, so it should be a much swifter process”.

But me personally, I am not looking forward to 2.2, I am looking foward to Gingerbread, that big 3.0 update and he does talk about if and when they will get it, when to expect it on any device.

“I don’t think so. I don’t know what Gingerbread involves, but I would believe that we would be done with our Froyo updates before Christmas. And since Google hasn’t made any announcements as to when Gingerbread is going to come out, I’m not going to make that guess, it could be Q1 of next year”.

It is good to know that HTC keeps everyone in the loop and while it is a long wait, it is better then nothing some other users are experiencing.

HTC quarterly profits higher than expected

HTC is one of the biggest contributors to the Android platform and they are proving it is worth their while. HTC’s quarterly profits just came out and HTC has done quite well. So well in fact, they were able to exceed their own already high expectations for how they would do this year. They previously predicted $1.6 billion in revenue and have exceeded that at $1.88 billion in revenue. This can no doubt be attributed to Android. HTC has been a big proponent of Android and Windows Mobile. Ever since Android 2.0 and some of HTC’s new higher end devices with their Sense UI, they are starting to make a big name for themselves in the consumer space. Can they continue this trend? It is quite possible the iPhone 4, a possible new WebOS device, and the slew of new Blackberries on the way could cut these profits. On the other hand, with the new HTC EVO, the still sold out HTC Incredible, and the cute and cuddly HTC Aria, sales could be even higher.

HTC expects to update most of it phones to Android 2.2 by the start of Q3

Now that Android 2.2 has officially arrived on Google’s baby (the Nexus One), we can expect to start hearing news about the release on other phones. Motorola said the Droid will get the update near the end of July and the Droid X will receive it shortly after that. Today Recombu reports that HTC is working hard to get updates out to all of its phones as well.  According to them, HTC will have Android 2.2 for several of their models including Wildfire, Legend, and the Desire by the beginning of quarter 3.  I think it’s safe to bet that this would also include the HTC Aria, EVO, Incredible, and possibly the MyTouch Slide. If HTC could update all its devices by quarter 3, I think the world will be a better place.

HTC ditches Samsung AMOLED stock problem; picks Sony Super TFT LCD displays

In a move by HTC not to have pre-orders and current orders cancelled, HTC has decided to migrate away from Samsung’s AMOLED to Sony’s new Super TFT LCD displays for their selection of handsets. The move comes in response to Samsung’s ability to deliver the AMOLED  die to a production shortage. This may also be due to the fact that Samsung has a massive, world-wide marketing campaign for the new Galaxy S series of handsets, now being launched on five carriers in the United States alone.

We know that Sony builds some quality product but we are very curious to see how the new Super LCD’s stand up in comparison with Samsung’s AMOLED and see performance difference between the two in direct sunlight.
